Gijs graduated from the Technical University Eindhoven with a master’s degree in Architecture, Building and Planning. After completing his studies, he joined Allard Architecture and has been an enthusiastic member of the team since the beginning of 2017.
He has played a key role in many medium-scale and high-end renovation projects within the city of Amsterdam. Through this experience he has gained a specialism for the sustainable renovation of Amsterdam monuments and takes enjoyment from designing lasting architecture in a sensitive historic environment.
In addition to this, Gijs has worked on numerous new build housing projects on the periphery of Amsterdam. Such projects have helped develop his technical knowledge of both timber and steel construction. He has cultivated an interest for the technical aspects of design and enjoys seeing a project from conception through to detailing and delivery.
