In collaboration with M.C. Kersten, Allard Architecture has developed an innovative solar-powered product focused on sustainable and circular design. The Solar Schild is a flexible steel structure with integrated solar panels, designed to support the charging of electric vehicles, including cars, e-bikes, scooters, and more.
Beyond charging, Solar Schild functions as a multifunctional public amenity, serving as a picnic bench, bus stop, bike shelter, or community gathering point. Its modular system allows for adjustable height, width, and roof angles, making it adaptable to a wide range of urban, rural, and commercial settings.
A working prototype has been constructed at the M.C. Kersten offices, showcasing the concept. Three parking bays are equipped with solar panels, while the other three feature a planted green roof, demonstrating the product’s versatility and environmental integration.
