project type: private residential
designer: allard architecture
contractor: Bonbouw BV
For this project, allard architecture was asked to design an addition to an existing family house in Loenen Aan De Vecht to double its existing usable floor space. Due to strict regulations the addition was required to be detached from the existing building. The L-shaped orientation of the resultant design both centers on the central patio and shelters it from the new proposed road adjacent to the addition. The barn-like addition was built with a timber frame construction and a thatched roof, drawing inspiration from the surrounding rural setting.
