In the city center of Amsterdam, on the Keizersgracht, Allard Architecture has designed a new interior of an achterhuis (back house). Not only has the interior been renewed, but also the foundation of the back house had to be completely replaced.
The house accommodates a young family. Despite the small footprint, the house has one master bedroom with an en suite bathroom and one bedroom with a separate bathroom. This second bedroom can be divided in the future into two smaller bedrooms. The new kitchen is situated in the basement. With the help of skilled technicians, steel poles were inserted inside the walls and hidden from view for structural support.
